4shared Quick Tour
As a registered 4shared member, you are free to upload, store, and share files with other users. It means that if some of your files have
public access settings any 4shared visitor can see and download them. Likewise, you are welcome to search a file you are interested in among the public files shared by other users.
As the store is rather big, it may be a problem to find a particular file in it. To simplify the process of searching we recommend you to use the 4shared search engine.
- Click on the "Search" tab on the menu bar, and type in your search term on the search field at top. Then click on the "Search" button to proceed your request.
- Use the search options to make your search more precise and to get more useful results. Click on the "Show search options" link and specify your search criteria.
The more information you specify, the more refined your search results will be.
You can search for files:
- that contain the search term in the file name
- that contain the search term in the description
- within a certain file size range
- that have a certain file type (i.e. mp3, mpeg, jpg, etc.)
- within a certain topic (Audio, Video, Graphic, etc.)
- If any files have been found, the search results provide you with detailed information about each of them. You will be able to see the name of the file, its folder, size, the date when the file was uploaded, and even how popular the file is among 4shared users.
- You can sort your search results by clicking on arrow next to the column names (Arrow up for ascending sort or Arrow down for descending sort).
Tip. You can use an asterisk (*) to match partial words (e.g. "shad*" will match both "shadow" and "shader").
